What's the best way to serve our cheeses? Any way you like! Here are a few suggestions to get you started.
Fresh Curds - Generally used for snacking, they also make a great accompaniment for soups and salads. Serve on the side or sprinkle on top. They can also be batter-fried.
Fresh Mozzarella - Soft but chewy, this Italian-style cheese is noted for its fresh milk flavor. Use in Italian dishes or just eat! Use within 5 days or freeze for later use.
Mozzarella Sticks - Hand-pulled to create fine strings, these sticks are as much fun to peel apart as they are to eat. Since these are best eaten fresh, we make them to order.
Ricotta - Creamy and finely curded, this ricotta is delicious in Italian dishes. Best fresh, we make ricotta on the same days we make mozzarella. Call ahead to reserve. Our flavored ricottas can also be used in cooking.
Garlic and Chive Ricotta - Terrific as a spread on crackers, bread or biscuits. Use as a replacement for sour cream in baked potatoes or spread in a loaf of French bread and heat for a great accompaniment to salads, soups or casseroles.
White Cheddar - Our cheddars are creamier in texture and richer in flavor than most cheddars. Each batch is a unique reflection of the grasses the cows were eating at the time the cheese was made. Summer cheddars are moist and buttery, while winter cheddars are drier but still melt in your mouth. What’s the difference between mild, medium and sharp cheddars? Age! The longer a cheddar is aged the stronger the flavor. Choose a cheddar based on your own taste preference. Cheddars are the most versatile of cheeses, blending well with almost any food, from appetizers to desserts. Try an extra sharp or aged cheddar with chocolate, you’ll love the combination.
Colby - We use whole milk in our Colby which gives it a creamier texture than skim milk Colby. Good in sandwiches or in recipes which call for a mild cheese. Melts well.
Gouda - Mild and creamy as a young cheese, the flavors grow more complex with aging. Makes a great snack and dessert cheese.
Havarti - A creamy, melt in your mouth cheese, perfect for breakfast or dessert. Great with eggs. Fabulous with dark chocolate and cherries on a dessert plate.
Dill Havarti - Fresh dill adds intriguing flavor to our Havarti, making it a versatile companion for most sandwiches, salmon, and fresh veggies.
Monterey Jack - A mild white cheese, Monterey jack is perfect for appetizers and sandwiches. Our flavored jacks will add zest to your culinary creations and variety to your snacks and appetizers.
Dill Monterey Jack - the subtle taste of dill adds a wonderful flavor to sandwiches and veggies. Cut in strips or small wedges and add to a veggie tray, or dice and toss in a crisp lettuce or spinach salad.
Garden Herb Monterey Jack - Seasoned with a special blend of herbs, this cheese is especially delightful in chicken or veggie sandwiches. For a quick appetizer, top a cracker with a slice of cheese and a crunchy vegetable or a black olive. Also serves as a wonderful garnish for sliced tomatoes.
Black Pepper Monterey Jack - Coarsely ground black pepper lends a little bite to this versatile cheese. Good in almost any sandwich, it adds a special flavor treat to tuna and roast beef. Cut in cubes to add to a raw vegetable salad.
Onion Chive Monterey Jack - Toasted onions and chives make this a favorite among our customers, who say it is the best cheese to ever grace a turkey sandwich. It makes a great addition to any sandwich and wonderful companion to lettuce and spinach salads. Try it with potatoes: tuck it into a baked potato before serving, layer it in potato casseroles or melt it on mashed potatoes.
Hot Pepper Monterey Jack - Not too hot, but enough to warm up your mouth, this blend of peppers, including habanero, provides more heat than bite. Excellent in burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas; also good as a snack cheese or to “warm up” a sandwich.
Pepperoni Monterey Jack - Generous portions of chopped pepperoni blended into this cheese make it a hit. Good in sandwiches and salads. For a special treat, butter slices of French bread, sprinkle with garlic powder and top with cheese. Broil until lightly browned.
Taco Monterey Jack - Cumin, onions and peppers flavor this spicy cheese. Good in Mexican dishes.
Moo-vre - Our twist on French Chevre. Rich, creamy with a very mild tang. Spread it on your favorite breads, pita and crackers or serve it with fresh veggies and fruit.
